Funded Summer School Opportunity on Gender and Law

The law school at the University of Warwick is holding a summer school between 5th-10th July 2010. The summer school will bring together doctoral students from Law, Women’s studies, politics, sociology and anthropology (or appropriate disciplinary backgrounds) working on
interdisciplinary gender and law issues in relation to development.

The nucleus of the Summer School is provided by MPhil/doctoral students at SEARCWL, UZ and Warwick University. However we have made available 5 fully funded residential places for doctoral students presently studying in the UK with interests in this area who would like to contribute to the school.

The focus of the week will be on developing methodologies and analytical frameworks for research on gender and law within diverse legal contexts with particular reference to southern post-colonial and European multicultural societies. A number of leading external contributors, including international scholars from Africa, Norway and the UK with expertise in the area will be present.
