Do women vote differently to men?

At our recent Gender and Politics forum, Ishanaa Rambachan and I examined the different electoral fortunes of male and female candidates. Yet we did not touch on the issue of whether there is a gender gap between male and female voting behaviour. That is, do women vote differently to men?

Today, the gender gap in voting behaviour is being re-examined in the lead up to the British election. Professor Alison Wolf (King's College, London) has written on the subject in the BBC News Magazine, and will interview Oxford academic Scott Blinder (Nuffield College) on BBC Radio 4 this evening.
