The Pixel Project is looking for the support of Rhodes women

The Pixel Project (http://www.thepixelproject.net/) is "an innovative Web 2.0 effort to turbo-charge global awareness about violence against women" that was created and is currently staffed by members of the Rhodes women community.

I'm writing to you to see if we can work together to get Rhodes women to contribute something small to the campaign:

We're starting our "Wall of Support" which will feature short (30 second - 2 minute) video endorsements from people from all walks of life. The 'Wall of Support' will be launched in early February 2010 and we are busy collecting endorsements/public messages.

The reason why we ask for video endorsements and not just written endorsements is because we arebuilding a global chorus of voices and faces from people who come together to say (in essence): "Enough is enough - it's time to stop violence against women together."

We were wondering if you could get the Rhodes women currently still in residence at Oxford organised to record their personal endorsements for us? It would mean a lot to The Pixel Project to have the backing and support of the Rhodes women community!

We're not looking for anything fancy - just look straight into the webcam, say your piece and then upload it onto YouTube and send us the link to embed on our website. I've attached the helpsheet/guidelines and starter script which will help anyone who is not sure about what to say. Please feel free to send to the Rhodes women mailing list as well as to any and all people at your college and department who may be interested in this.

It takes only about 5 to 10 mins to record your piece (including any false starts) but your voice will matter and every person who contributes a video endorsement to our Wall of Support will also be counted as contributing an 'action' to stop Violence Against Women in UNIFEM's campaign to raise 1 million 'actions' against gender violence (http://www.saynotoviolence.org).
